The 2025 Appenninica MTB Stage Race brings a breath of fresh air, for an even more intense and exciting edition. After four years in which the event took place in the first ten days of September, the main Italian MTB stage event will move to early summer, more precisely to the end of June: the next edition of the race on the Emilia-Romagna Apennines will take place from 23 to 27 June 2025.

The second big news concerns the format. Appenninica MTB Stage Race will unfold over five stages, in line with what is proposed by other leading events in the sector in Europe, while maintaining the charm of one of the most demanding and fascinating competitions in the international panorama of mountain bike stage races. 330 km and 12 thousand meters of altitude difference, all to be experienced in the splendid scenery of the Emilia-Romagna Apennines.
“The repositioning of the Appenninica MTB Stage Race is dictated by the analysis of a calendar that, compared to a few years ago, is now particularly congested in the month of September – explain Milena Bettocchi and Beppe Salerno, co-organizers of the stage race, – starting from the concomitance with the MTB Marathon World Championship which in 2025 would have coincided with the second weekend of the Appenninica.”
"The choice of the five-day format is the result of listening to our participants, current and potential, who pushed us to consider a solution in line with many of the main events in the sector. What will never change is the unique atmosphere of our event, what we call 'Appenninica Family', and obviously the desire to propose an event to discover fantastic places and routes that are still partially unknown to the general public," added the organizers.
With the announcement of the dates of the 2025 edition, the registration phase is also about to open. The first “Early Bird” window, which offers a maximum of 50 numbers at the discounted price of €990, will open on Sunday 1 December until 31 December or until all places are filled. Appenninica MTB Stage Race is a full service race, and the registration fee includes not only the race number, but also accommodation, refreshments and meals, medical assistance, bike washing, transfers between stages and other services (further details available on appenninica-mtb.com).
As in previous years, the maximum number of participants is set at 150, in order to avoid overcrowding on the trails and ensure high quality standards for all participants. Appenninica MTB Stage Race is an individual race, yet part of what makes it unique is being together at the start, in the stage towns, at dinner. Within an event on a human scale, great friendships have begun on the Apennines of Emilia-Romagna that have lasted for years, and many other encounters are destined to be born: try it and believe it.
