Nearly a week after his accident at the Rampage finals, which occurred after attempting a double backflip, the latest update on Silva's condition is that he has a severe spinal injury. Silva's injury report states that he has no feeling from the chest down, but states that it's "simply too early to know what the future holds; only time, healing, and his body's signals will tell."
To support Silva and his family, Road2Recovery, a nonprofit organization that assists professional athletes injured following catastrophic injuries, has launched a fundraising campaign. All donations will help fund Silva's ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, and transportation to Barcelona, as well as adaptive home and vehicle modifications and specialized mobility equipment essential to his independence and long-term quality of life.
