4th BikeUp in Lecco, European festival of assisted pedaling

Source: press release

12-14 May! Test ride for everyone and among the novelties of 2017 TrailUP, half-day excursions in the company of a guide to discover the area.
And then Mamma Sprint, a fun initiative between skittles and RideUp, e-mountain bike lessons with the coaches of the Gravity School.

The electric bicycle is not a much easier muscle bicycle, but it is a green and slow way to discover a territory or to live it. You pedal, and how if you do it, but with a different fluidity than that of the classic bicycle. The energies are dosed differently and even those who are not very trained can cover great distances or tackle climbs. And since on average the bicycle is a real cult object for those who own it, the new e-bikes have become beautiful: high technical content, scientifically studied functionality and futuristic design are the distinctive features that make newcomers and long-distance cyclists fall in love. in the mood for experimentation. In short, we must get rid of the impression that the electric bike is something sporty unattractive.

The Municipality of Lecco, in a far-sighted way, has embraced this new philosophy of travel - and of life - and from 12 to 14 May 2017 will host the fourth edition of Bike-Up, the first European festival entirely dedicated to pedal assisted bicycles, organized by Lab.C.

To understand how this phenomenon that seemed to be of interest to a few is growing exponentially, just look at the numbers of Italian production, which rose by 2015% in 90 (official data from Confindustria ANCMA). Statistics for 2016 are on the way and point to another major growth.

The event is a unique opportunity for enthusiasts, athletes and families to “touch” and experience, through test rides and trials, what it means to use a pedal assisted bicycle. There are activities for all ages, from 4 months onwards. The only requirement: the curiosity to try. Don't miss the acrobatic or skill displays too!

To get to the heart of things as soon as you arrive, you can test yourself on two different routes (urban and mountain bike) where you can try out all the e-bike models present at the exhibition also accompanied by a mountain bike guide (Test-UP, to register or just inquire at: [email protected]).

In addition to the two routes, there will be many activities to participate in: new to 2017 TrailUP, an initiative designed for those who want to explore the area (with cultural insights and forays into gastronomy) and try an e-bike in depth, in the company of a guide. Also new is the collaboration with the Gravity School of champion Luca Masserini, intelligent freeride teacher, to improve his technique with expert instructors. On its first date, also the all-female initiative Mamma Sprint, a fun test of skill among the pins dedicated to all the mothers present.

As in past editions, lovers of strong emotions will also be satisfied: on Saturday there will be UPHill, the e-mountain bike street competition, in which batteries of 4 riders will challenge each other facing stairways, ramps and jumps in the historic center of Lecco .

Furthermore, to satisfy families, an area dedicated to children will be set up in which expert staff will involve children aged 4 months and over with balance bikes: children will learn balance and the principles of road education by playing.

A very important section of the festival is the Cycle Tourism Area, in which players from the cycling sector from all over Italy will be present as tour operators, apt, mountain bike guides, renters and companies able to offer trips and bicycle tours.

With 30.000 visitors, 60 exhibitors and over 4200 test rides, the figures from the last edition are astonishing. Among the 2017 objectives is their overcoming precisely in relation to the growth of collateral activities linked to the discovery of the surrounding area and those present in the streets of the Lombard city. The space dedicated to the event occupies the entire city center and surrounding areas and there is really room for everyone!

And after Lecco, the BikeUP “Circus”, alongside the Superenduro calendar, will move to Canazei on (17 - 18 June) and La Thuile (8 - 9 July). In each stage there will be the exhibition part with the main companies in the sector, the test rides of the countless e-bikes on test, the shows that will animate the events and the news of the season, TrailUP.

Free access, some activities and tests are subject to charges.
