The athletic condition of the three strikers of the Torpado Factory Team was high enough to compete for the absolute first position. Swiss Casey South returned to the attack in extreme mud on Sunday and was the man to beat.
The Swiss athlete, riding the Black King Torpado, he braved the mud making the difference already in the early stages of the race. In pursuit Andreas Seewald and Urs Huber. Jakob Dorigoni in ninth position.
A few kilometers from the finish, some mechanical problems forced Casey South to third position. Despite his efforts to recover the leading pair, he finishes in third place.
Casey South: “Excellent day today, the conditions were crazy starting with the rain in the morning and then the sun which made the mud sticky. It was difficult to stand up in these conditions but I think I did it better than others. Unfortunately, all of a sudden too much mud accumulated on the wheel and it stopped spinning, I lost time there and I was overtaken. I am very excited after what also happened last week, now we are looking forward to consistent results ”.
Jacob Dorigoni: “I'm happy because I faced the first part up front, the conditions were really extreme and slowly I began to lose ground, but I consider this top 10 to be excellent in these conditions”.
In the female test Katazine Sosna she fought persistently for the podium but unfortunately she ran into a day not in top form, she finished in a good 7th position.
Katazine Sosna: “Up to the 20th kilometer I was fourth and I was trying to pick up my pace, immediately after one of the muddier stretches of the track began but the wheels and the chain were turning with difficulty. After some mechanical problems I tried to pick up my pace, the condition was not the best but I hope to find it again at the Roc d'Azur ”.
