Mathias Fluckiger more and more dominant of the world XC. The Swiss dominates the 3rd round after a good hard with Ondrej Cink.
Short tracks and cross country they had the same winners, pure climbers, suited to the demanding route which for the first time in history hosted a World Cup stage in these disciplines. Both Loana Lecomte and Mathias Flückiger took their first XCC victories on the short Leogang track on Friday, before repeating themselves in Sunday's queen event.
In the men's race, absent Mathieu Van der Poel, Tom Pidcock and Henrique Avancini, Nino Schurter he failed to take the opportunity to finally equal Julien Absalon's record of 33 World Cup victories. The current European champion had a frustrating weekend on his new Scott Spark RC. In the short track he finished 29th and on Sunday he was unable to go beyond 10th place. The success was played by the Czech Ondrej Cink and the Swiss Mathias Flückiger, with the latter who managed to make a difference in the final and raise his arms to the sky. New Zealander Anton Cooper, Frenchman Thomas Griot and Romanian Vlad Dascalu complete the podium. The Italians are growing with Nadir Colledani 12th, Gerhard Kerschbaumer 15th and Daniele Braidot 18th. Now the ball goes to the coach Mirko Celestino who in the next few days will announce the squads for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In addition to the three boys mentioned, the current tricolor Luca Braidot and the promising Under 23 Simone are competing to wear the blue shirt. Avondetto.
Solid race for Anton Cooper in 3rd position. Good tests from the Italians: 12th Nadir Colledani, 15th Gerhard Kerschbaumer and 18th Daniele Braidot. Nino Schurter still not brilliant but in the last laps he recovered and finished in 10th place.
