All major mountain bike formats united for the first time in a combined calendar to support the growth of the sport! This is the first step of UCI and Discovery Sport to launch MTB to the general public.
15 rounds covering 34 races in 10 different countries. Three continents are announced for 2023. ESO Sports and Discovery Sports Events are collaborating to provide a new vision for MTB and for now it seems to have started off on the right foot. Further details on the electric world (E-bike) will be released later.
What stands out is that many locations have been grouped together to maximize sustainability, in order to help both the teams and the entire entourage following the circuit. We work to unify everything in a large off-road family, also giving importance to the Marathon races, which now seem for many years detached from cross country.
UCI President David Lappartient said: "The launch of the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup and Enduro World Series calendar marks a major step forward in our work to modernize mountain biking, one of our five Olympic disciplines. With the integration of enduro, and soon also of the marathon and E-mountain bike disciplines, the events will take on a new dimension, bringing together even more athletes and fans. We look forward to introducing brand new locations, while welcoming traditional venues that have been highly regarded over the years. The partnership between UCI and Warner Bros. Discovery will significantly increase international exposure for mountain biking, enabling the sport to continue to grow globally".
A new vision for mountain biking
As the UCI begins to deliver its new vision for the future of mountain biking, the organization will seek to use WBD's global scale and multimedia platforms to launch initiatives and events around the world. ESO Sports is working in partnership with Discovery Sports Events to provide the organization, production and media broadcast, promotion and marketing of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.
There is still no news of the role that Red Bull will take after this corporate change.
