The island of Rab was the playground for the stage which included about 76 kilometers and 1250 meters of elevation gain.
Simon Stiebjahn and Martin Frey of the Singer Racing Team showed their class during stage 1 and made it clear that they had come to the race to win, a statement they claimed as they controlled the day and drove in the 2000-year-old town of Rab which hosted the arrival of stage 2 for the first time in the history of the event.
In the wake of the Singer Racing Team were Hugo Drechou and Peter Pruus of BUFF MEGAMO 2, but they were unable to hold the wheel through the city as Stiebjahn and Frey launched the winning attack through the ancient winding and winding roads.
“We couldn't be happier that we got the hat-trick,” said Frey. “Today we had everything under control and we could aim for victory at the end of the stage to complete a great day”.
Stiebjahn added: “When we heard the honking from the ferry it was a special situation that was further improved when we got off the ferry and boarded the island. It was the first experience for me and it made the day really special for me ”.

The women's races saw an equally dominant performance from Allebike Canyon Northwave's Lejla Tanovic and Stefanie Dohrn who won the stage and strengthened their grip on Ciovita's leader jerseys. Now they lead the women's category by 15 minutes and 18 seconds on MTB Pro Merchandising Racing and Olympia - RDR Italia, second in the standings.
“Today was really beautiful and this island was completely different from Krk,” explained Lejla Tanovic. “At first we played on our strengths and I was leading the climbs, but when it flattened I was just holding on to Stefanie's wheel. The stage suited us really well and she proved that we are a great couple ”.
