# 1 EWS Tweed Valley: Richie Rude and Ella Conolly win

Round one of the 2022 Enduro World Series (EWS) has picked up exactly where it left off, on the iconic Tweed Valley trails in Scotland.

Richie Rude EWS Tweed Valley

In the women's race, Isabeau Courdurier (Lapierre Zipp Collective) took her first stage win of the year on the Pro Stage, with Ella Conolly (Cannondale Mountain) just over a second behind her. Courdurier may have been the last woman to take the lead in each of Sunday's five stages, but it was Conolly who took control of the race.

The Scotswoman made an incredible performance to ride to her first EWS win at home in front of a more than grateful crowd. Bex Baraona (Yeti / Fox Factory Race Team) is a true local but the local knowledge wasn't enough to offer a repeat of last year's winning performance and she had to settle for second place. Courdurier's consistency throughout the race made her stop in 3rd place.

Good 10th place for Gloria Scarsi.

Ella Conolly EWS Scotland

Innes Graham was the biggest shock in the men's field, when he scored an incredible run to win the Pro Stage on Saturday. The local hasn't raced since 2016 but had an extraordinary race finishing in 3rd place.

The first stage on Sunday, the second stage, was canceled for the pro men after a fall that required the intervention of an ambulance. Jesse Melamed won the third stage, but that wasn't enough to keep Richie Rude (Yeti / Fox Factory Race Team) at bay, who had an account to settle with this venue after last year's disqualification. Melamed finished second, while Graham finished on the third step of the podium with a hero's welcome.

Bad for the Italians: first of ours, Mirko Vendemmia in 69th place.

U21

In the U21 Women Emmy Lan (Norco Factory Team) dominated the Italian Sophie Riva with 43 seconds. Third Justine Henry (Tribe Pyrenees Gravity). Luke Meier-Smith (Propain Factory Racing) also won all stages, leaving Seth Sherlock and Ryan Gilchrist in second and third place respectively.

In the team competition Yeti / Fox Factory Race Team lead the standings, Rocky Mountain Race Face Enduro Team is second and Nukeproof SRAM Factory Racing is third.

The series returns from June 16-19 for the second round of the EWS and EWS-E in Petzen Jamnica, Austria and Slovenia.

[email protected] I am passionate about everything that has 2 wheels: in my youth I practiced competitive cycling on the road and on the track with good results. At the age of 18 I moved to cross country competing at national/international level as U23. Once I passed Elite, I made the choice to take things easier from the training point of view, and that's how my love for gravity disciplines was born, training as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made my passion my profession by managing 3 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way, everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube 'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
