After the success of Luca Braidot, who in 2022 achieved stage success and the general classification of Internazionali d'Italia Series, Saturday June 3 was the other Braidot, Daniele, to enter the roll of honor of The Thuile MTB Race, fourth stage of Internazionali d'Italia Series.
A long-sought and pursued success for the CS Carabinieri standard-bearer, always in evidence in this first part of the season and finally rewarded for his efforts with a heavy result in terms of prestige and more, given that the first place in a HC category will allow him to gain positions on the grid in the next World Cup races.
A match with a very open prediction began with the burning escape of Simon Andreassen (Cannondale Factory Racing), with a clear advantage after the first lap but sidelined shortly after by a technical problem. The head of the race was thus taken by Daniele Braidot, Cameron Orr (Wilier-Pirelli) and the Brazilian Xavier de Oliveira (Specialized Racing Brazil), closely followed by the enfant de pays Andreas Vittone (KTM-Protek-Elettrosystem) and the talented French Under 23 Adrien Boichis (Trinity Racing).
It was in the fourth of the seven scheduled laps that Daniele Braidot realized he was the strongest, shaking off Orr after doing the same with Oliveira, while a surprising Alessio Agostinelli (KTM-Protek-Elettrosystem), by far his best performance at the Internazionali d'Italia Series, while Boichis and Vittone (the latter despite a crash downhill) proceeded in tandem in search of third place.
Arrived at the beginning of the last lap, Braidot passed with almost a minute on Agostinelli, while Vittone managed to put about fifteen seconds between himself and Boichis: in the last lap, the surprising Brazilian Xavier De Oliveira managed to slip between the two Under 23, taking an unexpected fourth place.
Braidot preceded Agostinelli by 55 seconds, Vittone by 1.23, Xavier de Oliveira by 1.55 and Boichis by 2.10. “My time has finally come,” commented a radiant Daniele Braidot, “already several times this season I had come close to the most important result, but for one reason or another it had always escaped. Today there were a few opponents missing at the start, but I had a super leg: beating me wouldn't have been easy for anyone, and I knew how to take advantage of my opportunity. Last year Luca started his winning streak from here: who knows if La Thuile won't bring me luck too. ”
Among the disappointed of the day there is certainly Simone Avondetto (Wilier-Pirelli) who started today with the leader's jersey of the general standings of the Internazionali d'Italia Series, only tenth and never in the race for the important positions: for him the top of the standings also vanishes, passing to Daniele Braidot at a only proof from the term. On the Under 23 field, however, Vittone continues to lead, who with today's third place has substantially secured his leader's jersey. “I'm happy, from Capoliveri forward I haven't missed a match, and today taking this third place and the success among the Under 23s at home has a special flavor, in front of the people close to me, who have been important even in the bad moments that I spent this winter. Now I can say it: I'm back in my best version."
