The Italian Absolute MTB Championship in Pergine Valsugana begins with a bang: the Italian event set up in the splendid setting of the Tre Castagni Park began with the successes of Anna Oberparleiter and Mirko Tabacchi. As predicted, the two e-bikers reconfirmed themselves as the best interpreters of "electric" mountain biking.

At 18.00 pm the punctual start of the single grid race took place along the 5 laps of the track specifically designed for e-bikes. At the head of the men's race, Mirko Tabacchi from Belluno made things clear from the first lap, imposing his fast pace which left his rivals no chance. The outsider of the day, Tommaso Bianchetti, a young man born in 2005 who led a great race in a duel in the first laps with Martino Fruet from Pergine, immediately started chasing. Just during the second lap the home idol suffered a puncture which compromised his dreams of grabbing silver. The positions remained unchanged for the rest of the race, with Tabacchi wearing the tricolor jersey of Italian E-MTB Champion, finishing the race in 49'59”. Behind him is Tommaso Bianchetti from Terni and Martino Fruet, born in 1977, wins a precious bronze medal. “Finally a race where everything goes well! I had a perfect vehicle, my physical condition was at its best and the route was really beautiful. I didn't have any problems and I'm really happy with this result” Tabacchi rejoiced at the arrival, while Fruet objectively analyzed his performance: “it's a shame about the puncture, but the young Bianchetti was really good and went uphill really strong. I'm happy with my result, and tomorrow we'll be back on track!”
In the women's category, the big favorite of the day was the defending champion Anna Oberparleiter, who only needed the first lap to take the lead and clear the way. Behind her, Katia Moro and Camilla Martinet went wild and took turns in a beautiful duel. In the first half of the race it was Martinet from Valle d'Aosta who occupied second position, while Moro from Bergamo appeared more tired in her action. However, the inertia changed during the third lap when Moro closed the gap on Martinet, completing the overtaking against his colleague and putting the silver around his neck on arrival. "I had a lot of fun. The race was beautiful, I want to congratulate the organizers for the super track they set up, I really liked it!” Oberparleiter from Brunico rejoiced at the finish line, thus winning the third Italian E-MTB title of her career.
Tabacchi and Oberparleiter wore the coveted tricolor jersey given to them by the president of the Italian Cycling Federation Cordiano Dagnoni, with the highest official of the national federation who did not miss the opportunity to celebrate the athletes in Pergine Valsugana, the location that will be the seat of the Council tomorrow federal.
The new Italian champions of the Master categories are Sabrina Tettamanti (W6), Gianluca Cerri (ELMT), Andrea Pavanello (M 1/2), Marco Rodolico (M 3/4) and Marco Dorigatti (M Over50).
For Paolo Alverà's organizing committee, the adventure of the Italian Absolute MTB Championship began on the right foot: compliments galore for the staff of the Oltrefersina Sports Centre, who set up a rich "parterre" in the start and finish area with an Expo area and market and well-stocked catering area. And the party continues with the delicacies of the "Memorial dish", the special gourmet proposal dedicated to the green-white-red event thanks to the collaboration with Chef Paolo Betti.
Tomorrow is the big event with the Olympic Cross Country race reserved for the UCI categories and on Sunday the Master categories.
