Mountain biking is a rather varied sport that has many facets and it is not easy to make a clear classification straight away. In muscle training there are many categories and classifications given that the legs do not have all the watts of power of an electric motor.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MTB?
Don't you understand what I mean? What I want to say is that e-bikes don't need all these small geometric differences (like muscular ones) since the motor makes up for some lack of wattage in our legs. On e-bikes, we focus more on the differences in terms of the motor and battery. The 29" standard has now made everyone agree and even the telescopic one can be put on any type of bike (discover the advantages of the telescopic).
How many types of E-BIKEs are there?
Here is our breakdown, without prejudice to the fact that the world of e-bikes is constantly evolving:
- cargo
- city bike
- e road
- e Gravel
- e-mtb light (which are divided into Front – Trail – Full from Enduro)
- e-mtb (which are divided into Front – Trail – Full Enduro)
Role
Modern e-bikes can be used to move faster and more efficiently in urban environments. Cargo bikes are the first ones that started integrate ABS systems on braking systems. They are ideal for transporting objects in city contexts.
City Bike
As you can understand from the name, electric city bikes are designed for urban environments. At most very simple dirt roads, as cycle paths can be. This type of e-bike can be used to transport small quantities of load thanks to the use of parcel racks.
e road
Racing ebikes are designed for riding paved roads. They are bikes suitable for sports use having advanced technical and geometric characteristics. Lightness and aerodynamics are its advantages.
e Gravel
The gravel electric bicycle is designed to tackle light dirt roads and to have great comfort even on asphalt roads. It is recommended as a bike for long journeys/journeys as it has more relaxed geometries and reduces the risk of punctures. Some gravel e-bikes also include front suspension to better tackle even the most uneven terrain.

e-mtb light
E-MTB Light, or light electric mountain bikes, are a category with a total weight of less than 20 kg, and have reduced engine power. This allows you to have a more agile and easy-to-handle bike, ideal for tackling technical and demanding routes. They are suitable for those who like to pedal a lot even uphill and have a less invasive engine than standard e-bikes, while also having the advantage of having a lighter structure.

e-mtb
E-mtb are the e-bike classifications with motor and battery at the highest levels. The autonomies are constantly updated as increasingly higher capacities are presented every year.
