Cam Zink is from Carson City, Nevada. He started mountain biking at the age of 9 and at 16 he won the Junior Dual Slalom National Championship. He was hired by the Santa Cruz Syndicate team when he was 17. Until the age of 20, he continued to race while also competing in Slopestyle.

In 2009 Zink founded Sensus, a company that produces bicycle grips and in 2010 he won the Red Bull Rampage by receiving the best trick award for a drop of almost 12 meters at 360 °, and also won the season title of the FMB World Tour.
In 2013 he won the best trick for a 23m backflip, after a doctor forbade him to participate. In the same year he finished 4th overall at the Slopestyle event in Munich X-Games. In 2014 he finished 2nd at Red Bull Rampage and won the best trick with the biggest 360 in the history of the event.
On August 21, 2014, Mammoth Mountain at the World of X-Games, set the world record for the longest backflip on a bicycle thanks to a 30m flip. In 2006 and 2010 he won the Crankworx Slopestyle (now Joyride) in Whistler, British Columbia.
