Coaching focuses on what you can, not on what has been.

Coaching is a journey and has nothing to do with receiving instructions or teachings.

It's focusing on how to do things, rather than what to do.

Obviously, the goal of Coaching is to improve performance, reach very high standards and maintain them over time.

Modern Coaching takes its cue from Timothy Gallaway, a scholar of education at Harvard, who almost 50 years ago wrote "The inner game in tennis", a book in which he emphasized the fact that often the strongest opponent is the one we have. in our head and therefore, a Coach must be able to help his athlete to remove or limit internal obstacles.

Performance = potential - interference

This is the formula with which Gallaway proved his thinking:

P = p - i

It often happens that the Performance results are below the potential because we have not been able to manage the interferences in the correct way, so the result of our equation becomes:

P <(p - i)

If this situation is not addressed, the real risk, as I wrote in my first article is that you "tear the cord". In this case the mind enters a negative thought loop where getting up becomes very complicated.

The goal of training the mind is precisely to ensure that the initial formula is obtained, where the result of PERFORMANCE is equal to the potential minus the Interferences, in this case we can say that we have exploited 100% of our potential:

P = (p - i)

Of course, achieving performance in line with our maximum potential is definitely a very interesting goal, but with constant mental training I guarantee you that it is possible to aim for this:

P> (p + i)

That's right, you read that right, the real goal is to make sure that our performance (P) is higher (>) than our potential, where interference no longer becomes an "opponent" to be defeated, but an ally capable of put the turbo on it.

Dear biker, put your heart in peace, interference, which can be external and / or internal, will always be there, and it is with mental training that we must learn to recognize them, manage them and exploit them to our advantage.

It is here, in this last step, that we see the winning mentality, because after all, any interference, can be an excuse or a springboard, it is up to you to decide how to use it.

So start thinking: "What has prevented me so far from achieving your best Performance?"

Grab a sheet of paper, write it down and with the next article we will see how to manage the interference and boost your goals.

Good job.
