Are you one of those guys who wash your bike in the bathtub, take your bike to the mechanic once a month or don't even put oil in the chain? Whatever your level, you need to know how to do basic maintenance for various reasons: not to always put your hand on your wallet and not always to be at your trusted mechanic for every problem that could be solved in a few minutes.

WHO DOES ITSELF DOES IT FOR THREE
1. LUBRICATE THE CHAIN
The simplest operation in the world but which is often snubbed, making the chain work dry to the happiness of the shopkeepers given the greater wear of the crowns, sprockets and chains.

A lubricated chain is a chain that runs well, which passes fluidly between the various sprockets and crowns, which limits wear and improves the functioning of the system. The law "the more oil I add the better" is not exact: the chain must be cleaned, not oiled for months, otherwise we will end up with a very greasy and dirty chain which will work equally badly, risking damaging our gearbox.
2. ADJUST THE TRANSMISSION
A true cyclist must know how to adjust the gearbox: you cannot go to the mechanic for every small adjustment, both for a matter of time and practicality. And then it can happen that you find yourself with an unregulated exchange far from home: what do we do?
Here is the video tutorial for you. Watch it carefully and put the advice into practice.

3. CHANGE THE BRAKE PADS
Braking is important (for obvious reasons) but it is also important not to completely wear out any pads (v-brake) and pads (disc brakes) otherwise we will brake iron on iron and it is not a pleasant operation for the components ( wheel rim or brake discs).

4. ADJUST THE SUSPENSION
In the case of full-suspension bikes, it is an operation that helps to set up the bike perfectly and be able to get the best out of it, especially if it is a gravity inclined mtb (enduro / dh).
Considering that, in muddy and dry conditions, the suspension setting should be changed (with mud softer and slower return while in dry conditions you go towards opposite settings).

5. RIDING CYCLING IN STYLE
It's ok to be a maintenance wizard, but knowing how to ride a bike in style means a lot: a technique course never hurts ๐
