What I will carry in my heart from this trip was the scenic beauty with those mountainous prairies and free animals in their natural habitat.
The totally natural paths in which I enjoyed riding the bike with 100 different riding styles from flow to beaten to slow technical up to pedal hard like in a road time trial.
I will miss the van and the company of the good Luca with whom I shared over 4000 km for a total of 4 days of travel.
I will always remember the Spanish warmth, the festivities, the cerveza and their breakfasts with bread, tomato, cheese and fruit juice (and for the carnovori the ham).
I will miss getting out of my hotel room, seeing the snow-capped mountains over 2000 meters and walking through the streets of a Gujar Serra village that seems to have stood still in the 1700s.
I will miss the noise of the engine working uphill, the heart pumping over the limit and that nice feeling of accelerating at the exit of a bend thanks to the ebike.
I will miss those wild aperitifs with the Italians and the close-knit group.
I will also miss my solo outings, immersed in full meditation and tranquility and those feelings of a child curious to discover.
I will also remember the disappointment of not being able to finish the race due to a puncture but also the satisfaction of finishing some special stages in the first 10 overall.
I think it is only the beginning for a new discipline that will not be a competitor of the traditional but complementary mountain bike that will give new emotions to the racer and more possibilities to the tourist.
Everyone knows that I love to vary and experiment, therefore in the future you will certainly still see me with the number on an ebike but also to be a monk as luca taught me during this trip on the uphill paths of Mottarone, while remaining faithful to my loves like downhill marathon stage races and traditional enduro….
Both on a motivational and pure training level, they are all complementary disciplines and experiences that deserve to be lived.
