Nino Schurter, in Petropolis, got rid of a burden: to be second to Julien Absalon in number of victories. Ok, certainly this title was not lacking to define the greatness of the Swiss, but for an athlete who has lived off competition all his life, this milestone meant a lot.
The exultation at the end of the race seemed to be the first victory in the cup, instead it was his 33rd: during the interviews, he wanted to congratulate the class of Julien Absalon that allowed him to improve year after year in his performances. A goal that he had been chasing for 3 years and that seemed increasingly difficult to achieve after the covid pandemic that made the Swiss lose important time (and important victories).

Albstadt made his World Cup debut in 2013 and Nino Schurter did not miss even one edition. These are the positions of Nino Schurter in all editions of the Albstadt World Cup:
