Again, the width of the handlebar is personal because it depends on your anthropometric measurements and what exactly you are looking for from the handlebar (a more gravity destination for the descent or a tighter destination for pedaling). However, I will try to give a base value from where you can then choose your ideal width.
HANDLEBAR WIDTH
Broadly speaking, the measures range from 680mm up to 800mm and then differ in width due to the various uses to which it is used. A wider handlebar promotes driving stability while narrower handling. With the current 29 ″, the tendency to have wider handlebars has developed due to the greater inertia of the wheels.
RECOMMENDED MEASURES TO START
650-700mm in XC
700-750mm in TRAIL / ALL-MOUNTAIN
740-780mm in ENDURO
770-800mm in DH
HOW HIGH DOES THE MTB HANDLEBAR GO?
These are maximum measurements, just to get an idea, it is logical that if you then go out in front with the same nastiness with which you attack the Black Snake in Val di Sole, then you also need a 75cm handlebar there. A tip: don't think 'the wider the better', it being understood that under 65cm it makes no sense to go, even in the case of very narrow shoulders and small build.
I leave you to the nice video of Blake Samson referring to the handlebar width 🙂
