The Toscano Enduro Series circuit, for 2019, made a courageous choice: that of making a secret stage for each stage of the circuit. They succeeded in Elba: do you know how? … Opening it at night!
I run a little but my soul is very competitive so if I go to a race I always try to give my best, maybe not on the training side since at certain times of the year I let myself go, but I feel the race and therefore when I am I sign up because I feel ready both physically and in preparation for the race. This implies that I haven't done many blind races.
But this year there have already been two occasions and they opened up a world for me: the first in Coggiola for the 4Enduro, where I went with a friend ("Loic" Beppe Venturi) and we ran without trying the route: ok, the result did not arrive (48th overall), but the fun was maximum. Little agitation at the start but only the desire to give the best. No trajectory to remember, no passage. Ok, this philosophy in facing the race requires good technique and also good preparation, but with these 2 ingredients the fun is sky high.
You just have to forget the cup for the result (difficult to cash in a national competition without trying), put the KOMs aside and that's it. Long live the style. You also save on hotels and there is no anxiety to try and try the same descent again.
The second occasion, perhaps the most beautiful and stimulating, at the Toscano Enduro Series, precisely on the Island of Elba for the 2nd round (I take this opportunity to congratulate the staff of Elba Ovest for the TOP course!). For the uninitiated, the Toscano Enduro Series has included the obligation in the regulation. for each organizing committee, to insert a secret PS in their competition. And in Elba they did it by going to challenge the wild boars at night with lighthouses and hoes! To say overtime is an understatement. And, in this PS, I was really excited: at the start I never felt so calm because I was convinced that no one had tried. No one had studied tactical cuts where to make money or anything. And the PS went perfectly: some trajectories could have been done better, of course, but the adrenaline I felt when I got down was almost equal to the Maxiavalanche! And so, I'm sure, it was the same for the other competitors!
No perfect passage but a lot of spectacle, ignorance and, in a certain sense, creativity. A thousand euphoria for all the competitors who arrived. An example that should be followed because it is really beautiful and stimulating (of course not exaggerating with the technical steps). And, for the record, the PS in question I won (modesty OFF). But then I lost the race a lot but that is another story that I will tell you.
