The Men's Short Track Cross Country is one of the events included in the program of the Mountain Bike World Championships. It has been held since the 2021 edition. The XCC races take inspiration from theXc Eliminator, a format introduced from 2010 to 2017 in the World Cup and then organizing a separate championship always under the aegis of the UCI. The difference between XC Eliminator and Short Track is the fact that in the Eliminator you run in groups of 4, while in the Short Track you all start together.
The Short Track races see the top 40 in the UCI ranking at the start and the result of the race determines the starting grids for the XCO race the following day. They last approximately 20 minutes and are held on 1-1,5 km circuits (part of the XCO track) with travel times of 2-3 minutes per lap.
