The UCI marathon mountain bike world cup ran from 2005 to 2008, before being abandoned and relegated to the UCI Marathon Series, a different concept from the World Cup since these were isolated competitions that received that status from the UCI but where there was no general classification or leaders jersey.
The UCI-backed Marathon World Cup returns in 2023 in collaboration with the giant Discovery Sports.
