The title of Superenduro PRO Champion 2013 was instead taken home by Manuel Ducci, despite an entirely defensive race, below his standards. The Ibis-Life Cycle rider thus capped off a season that always saw him as a protagonist, with a victory, a second and two third places. On the beach shortly after arrival Ducci commented on his triumphant result: “Winning the title in the second season of Superenduro powered by SRAM is fantastic. My goal now is to become more competitive in the EWS. The race today was very tough for me, I'm coming from a nagging injury and my goal was only the finish line, without looking for performance."
The best of the Italians in the race was Alex Lupato (Lapierre – FRM), nineteenth, with Marco Aurelio Fontana (Cannodale) and Francesco Colombo who did better than the enduro specialists Vittorio Gambirasio (Gt – Team 360) and Davide Sottocornola ( SantaCruz – Cicobikes Dsb), both delayed on Saturday by technical problems. The support was very warm for Lupato, one of the riders most loved by the public and author of a great uphill season, crowned with the tricolor jersey and victory in the RedBull Time Rush ranking.
Even in the women's race there was no lack of spectacle, the first among the Italians was Laura Rossin (Devinci – Dream Team Genova), who won the Superenduro Powered By SRAM title, finishing ahead of Valentina Macheda (Ibis – Life Cycle) and Chiara Pastore (SantaCruz – Cicobikes Dsb).
Today in Finale Ligure a season ended but a new era of mountain biking began, here are the words of Fabien Barel, one of the first pro riders to believe in enduro: "Today is the victory of enduro, the birth of a new it was thanks to the Enduro World Series and Superenduro that they opened a new path in this sport. I want to thank all those who worked towards this goal and who brought the enduro discipline to these levels."
