6 September 2015 – The Vallnord route in Andorra is truly difficult, made more complicated by the heavy rains of recent days. The sun dried out the ground in some areas of the track, making it even dry and dusty, while in the woods the damp roots put all the riders to the test.
Among the elite, Loic Bruni wins, with a perfect, fast and clean run. Loic Bruni finally gets his first victory in a world-class race and he does it in the most important event of the season. Second place for Greg Minnaar, who could do nothing against Loic's perfection. Josh Bryceland, third, was also satisfied and was unable to wear the rainbow jersey. He doesn't lack technique, on the contrary, his talent is truly immeasurable, but perhaps he lacks a bit of that determination that Loic Bruni certainly doesn't lack. Josh didn't start very well and then made up positions in the more technical part of the track.
The world championship is still haunted for Aaron Gwin, who once again saw his world championship dream fade away due to a fall after spending the 1st half time in 5th position. The outgoing World Champion Gee Atherton also fell in the initial stretch. Gianluca Vernassa and Francesco Colombo finish in the top 50, 46th and 49th respectively. Carlo Caire finishes 68th. Lorenzo Suding however did not start.
Among the women, the script has already been written with Rachel Atherton's victory: an excellent run that gives her an advantage of over 3 seconds over her compatriot Manon Carpenter, the outgoing World Champion. Third position for Tracey Hannah who finished almost 10 seconds behind Atherton's time. 12th and 13th position for the bearers of the Italian national team, Eleonora Farina and Veronika Widmann, who finished less than a second behind each other.
In the Junior category, Laurie Greenland, winner of the World Cup Overall, closed the season on a high note, also becoming the 2015 Junior DH World Champion. A close fight with the Belgian Martin Maes, who finished over 3 seconds behind the Briton. Our standard bearer Loris Revelli is unable to replicate the great performance in Val di Sole (1st place – World Cup) and finishes in 10th position.
No surprises however from the female Junior category, where the French Marine Cabirou won by a landslide with a gap of over seven seconds on her compatriot Viktoria Gimenez.
