1/5 September 2009 – Finally Steve Peat he is world champion of Downhill! At 35, Steve manages to win the long-awaited and haunted rainbow jersey and the whole DH world celebrates with him. After 3 consecutive silver medals (2000, 2001 and 2002), including a missed victory in 2004 due to a slip on the last corner, it seemed that Steve could no longer fight to win a rainbow jersey. But in 2009 fate wanted this and it excelled Greg Minnaar for just 5 cents, those cents that throughout his career have always relegated him to the back.

While Mike Hannah sat in the hot seat, peat performed the miracle that almost no one expected by now, finishing with an incredible 2:30.33, 690 hundredths behind Hannah. Hill he reaches the end with a delay of 2'71, thus placing himself in fifth place. Minnaar flies on the track and it seems that the same story will repeat itself: victory for the South African and 2nd place for the British. In the end, however, the fight is very close and ends with just 0.05 delay from the "Re“, a trifle that is enough to write his name in the roll of honor. Among women he wins Emmeline Ragot which beats the British Tracy Moseley. Third is Americana Kathy Pruitt. Out of the race Sabrina Jonnier due to a puncture. Among the junior males he wins Brook MacDonald, According to Shaun O'Connor and third Danny Hart. The Italian Andrea Gamenara 20°. Among the junior women, victory for Proceedings Pajot, followed by the Berteaux and Baarspul. Alia Marcellini comes close to the podium, finishing in 4th place with just 1.64 seconds behind the third place.
