The 1992 Mountain Bike World Championships, the third edition of the competition, were held in Bromont, Quebec, Canada, between 13 and 20 September 1992.
Victory for the American Dave Cullinan who wins in front of Jimmy Deaton e Christian Taillefer. The outgoing world champion took 4th place Albert Iten. Among women he wins Juliana Furtado in front of the Americana Kim Sonier and to the Canadian Cindy Devine. The outgoing world champion is fifth Giovanna Bonazzi. Among the Juniors he wins the first of many world titles, Nico Vouilloz.
Two disciplines were officially competed, the cross country and the downhill, in three categories for each discipline (junior, senior and veteran), for a total of twelve world titles awarded. Dual slalom, already widespread at the time in the United States, was introduced as a demonstration discipline, won by Wayne Croasdale and Cindy Whitehead.
