Commezzadura, 17/22 June 2008 – The World Cup returns to Italy after Ciocco 1991 and Livigno 2005 and does so in great style with one of the most technical courses in the circus designed by Pippo Marani. The track is feared and there is no shortage of twists and turns. Steve Peat sets the best time and will remain sitting on the hot seat for a long time... has the year of the long-awaited rainbow jersey finally arrived? The 34-year-old Englishman loses all hope when he comes down Sam Hill: a descent that has gone down in history (video at the bottom of the page), it floats on its roots and flies over every stone it finds along the way. But everything vanishes at the last minute when, on the easiest curve of the route, he slips and is forced to start from a standstill in a section that his opponents face at 40km/h... despite the fact that he is 2nd, 5 tenths behind Steve Peat but it is still missing Gee Atherton. Atherton he doesn't do anything wrong, he too is the author of a great descent and overtakes by over 2 seconds Steve Peat who has to settle for yet another podium while Sam hill he eats his hands for a rainbow jersey thrown to the wind. It would have been the fifth of his career. Sunday 22 June Christopher Sauser achieved victory in the mountain bike world championship cross country, in Val di Sole. Departure with the American Koerber to set the pace straight away, followed however by the favorites with Spitz, Kalentieva, Fullana, Liu and our Lechner.
