Rotorua – 22/27 August. While the women's race was resolved very early, the men's race gave the final result only during the last lap when Julian Absalon (France) managed to break away Christopher Sauser (Swiss). The others are much more detached with Fredrik Kessiakoff (Swedish) on the 3rd step of the podium. All the others clearly behind, demonstrating a very tough xc race.

In the feminine it is Norwegian Gunn Rita Dahle who already breaks away from everyone on the 1st lap and leads a race as usual, inflicting abysmal gaps. Second Irina Kalentieva (Russia) and third Marie-Helene Premont (Canada), separated by 2'45" and 4'22" respectively.

The Italians performed well in the youth categories: Cristian Cominelli's 4th place among the Juniors and Tony Longo's 2nd place among the U23s are worth mentioning.
