In a humid climate, the Cross Country World Championships took place in Metabief in France. In the men's field we saw an encore from Henrik Djernis, after the victory in 1992 in Bromont. Behind him the Dutchman Marcel Gerritsen and his compatriot Jan Erik Ostergaard.
The venue for the 1993 World Cup is Metabief in France on 17 and 18 September.
In the women's field we see the victory of the rising star Paola Pezzo, who wins her 1st MTB world championship, a race that will make her understand her true international value and will project her to other fantastic victories. Behind her is the ever-green Jeannie Longo, who has also won multiple victories in other disciplines. Third Ruthie Matthes, already world champion in 1991 at Ciocco.
