Fabien Barel (born 26 July 1980, Nice) specialist of downhill, was world junior champion in 1998 in Mont-Sainte-Anne and elite in 2004 in Les Gets and 2005 in Livigno. In 2003 in Lugano he won the bronze medal and in 2007 in Fort William the silver. In May 2010 he was the victim of a fall in which he suffered a fracture of the femur, which kept him out of action for the rest of the season and after which he decided to retire and throw himself headlong into enduro considering it less dangerous. In 2013 he placed 3rd overall in the Enduro World Series while in 2014 he was the victim of a serious fall during the first stage in Chile where he risked paralysis due to damage to the 8th vertebra. He returns towards the end of the season and manages to win the last stage in Finale Ligure!
