Taking advantage of this long weekend, I decided to go for a ride to Domobianca365, to finally spend a day in the Lusentino bike park.
Between enduro races, bike tests, and excursions, there's always little time to really explore the banks, bumps, and jumps, comfortably seated on a chairlift. So, when the opportunity arises, it's best to take advantage of it.
Lusentino: the mountain of Domodossola
Lusentino has always been one of the iconic mountains of Domodossola and the Ossola region. Historically associated with winter skiing, it has undergone a significant transformation in recent years thanks to the Domobianca365 summer project.
Today, it's no longer just a ski resort: it's become a true outdoor playground. Bike parks, trails, family activities, adventure parks, and summer initiatives are helping to revitalize the resort, creating a modern tourism offering that goes far beyond just the winter season.
And this is precisely the interesting direction: designing a mountain that truly lives twelve months a year.
What is the bike park like?
The bike park is well organized and, at least in the upper part where I rode today, offers very classic bike park-style lines: banks, compressions, jumps and a really pleasant natural flow.
The lines are refined, well-connected, and allow for excellent pacing without ever being too extreme or disjointed. It's clear that real thought has gone into it.
The bumps and small jumps weren't included randomly: they're designed to increase fun but also to manage speed. A smart choice, it perfectly captures the park's target audience: a fun, accessible place that can entertain a wide range of riders.
There are essentially three main lines. Two in the upper section, with some points where you can even swap them, creating interesting variations and changes of pace. Then there's a return with a few jumps that are a bit more decisive and playful.
The lower part: more enduro, more forest
The lower part, however, changes character completely.
Here the terrain becomes more enduro-style: you enter the woods, the flow gives way to more natural and technical trails, and you can choose whether to pedal or organize a shuttle.
I wasn't able to tour it as much as I would have liked, but I'll definitely be back in the next few weeks to explore it further and tell you about it more calmly.
A perfect place for families too
The interesting thing is that Lusentino is not just about cycling.
It's one of those places where you can easily spend a day in the mountains, even with the family. Between adventure parks, outdoor activities, and relaxation areas, there's something for everyone.
However, there is one piece of advice: don't do as I did, who had to leave at midday.
Why?
Because it's time for the barbecues to begin... and from there it becomes practically impossible not to stop.
