Mathieu van der Poel will not participate in the Short Track World Championship, despite being able to compete without qualifying. We recall that initially it was not in his plans to compete on the Short Track but he had given some hope after the UCI declared that the qualifying heats were cancelled.
The reason is that the Dutchman prefers to recover for the XCO: on the other hand victory in the road world championship was not a walk in the park.
In the middle there is also the fall that Van der Poel suffered while he was on the run from the world championship: a few more days of recovery doesn't hurt. His goal is the Paris 2024 Olympics and the world championship is used to collect important points in view of qualification.
I do 2 or 3 laps of the circuit every day to get used to it. Reaching Saturday's goal will be difficult enough – Mathieu Van der Poel
