Mathieu van der Poel will not participate in the Short Track World Championship, despite being able to compete without qualifying. We recall that initially it was not in his plans to compete on the Short Track but he had given some hope after the UCI declared that the qualifying heats were cancelled.
The reason is that the Dutch prefers to recover for theXCO: However victory in the road world championship was not a walk in the park.
In the middle there is also the fall that Van der Poel suffered while he was on the run from the world championship: a few more days of recovery doesn't hurt. His goal is the Paris 2024 Olympics and the world championship is used to collect important points in view of qualification.
