Dainese returns to the mountain bike footwear segment with the new Materia and Acto shoes, each also available in a Pro version, with Auxagon upper. This is how Dainese's goal is achieved: to offer complete protection from head to toe, with a range of products that now goes from Linea helmets to shoes, including shirts, trousers, jackets and protectors to freely express performance in the saddle with maximum safety.

The new Dainese Materia and Acto mountain bike shoes have been designed and manufactured with a particular focus on protection and control of the bicycle through the pedals, even in the most extreme conditions of use. They are available in two models, designed respectively for riders who prefer clipless pedals and flat pedals.

The shoes for clipless pedals are Materia and Materia Pro, the latter characterized by an innovative lacing system which includes the presence of a tear-off containment band. Materia Pro presents the innovative PER-FIT System, acronym for Precision Elasticated Retaining System: a series of four elastic bands positioned on the instep combined with a quick-sliding lace, to personalize the fit with great precision in an instant, and the band upper with strap, also useful for adjusting the width based on the shape of your foot. PER-FIT System, thanks to these elements, applies uniform pressure and wraps the instep with great precision.

The upper of the Materia Pro is constructed with a material with an auxetic Auxagon texture, an inspiration from the natural world adopted by Dainese protectors. In the upper there is a layer of high-density EVA, a lightweight, durable polymer with great impact absorption capacity, which is in turn wrapped in an anti-abrasion fabric, for an extremely protective overall. The auxetic structure, thanks to its characteristics of flexibility and resistance, further increases the qualities of protection and freedom of movement.

To complete the safety features of the shoe there are reinforcements on the toe and heel. The toe area, the area most exposed to impacts, is externally covered with a rubberized layer to increase shock absorption capacity and abrasion resistance. On the heel of the Materia Pro there is a solid and rigid hourglass-shaped TPU structure inspired by motorcycle boots.

The sole of Materia and Materia Pro is made with Groundtrax® technology, a TCX patent, a brand of motorcycle footwear owned by the Dainese group. The sole compound guarantees grip on all surfaces in all conditions and is extremely resistant to abrasion. The cleat housing area is made of nylon and its location is the result of a careful analysis of the conformation of the knee and ankle joints in relation to the position of the pedal. Everything to offer quick and safe coupling and uncoupling movements. The midsole is built in EVA to increase impact and vibration absorption.

Acto and Acto Pro are shoes designed to be used with flat pedals and share numerous solutions with Materia and Materia Pro. What distinguishes them most is the sole, which in this case uses Vibram® technology, a leading brand in the production of soles for sports shoes. The sole of the Dainese Acto shoes features a compound created specifically for use on mountain bikes; guarantees optimal grip when interacting with the pedal pins and durability in use. The tread design was specifically designed for Dainese and is optimized for excellent contact between shoe and pedal, for perfect control of the bike at all times. The design is differentiated in the different areas, to offer the maximum to the foot both when driving and walking.

The midsole layer of the Acto Pro shoe features the ZPLATE® BIKE insole, a technology derived from TCX motorcycle shoes that combines rigidity and flexibility in a perfect mix, useful for stabilizing the foot on the pedal and making it free to move when walking. The transversal rigidity of ZPLATE BIKE also avoids deformation of the sole following any strong impacts or compressions.

The Dainese Acto and Materia mountain bike shoes will be available in Dainese stores, on dainese.com and in the best stores starting from March 2024,
