This year the roles have reversed: it is Daniel Braidot the favorite to win the final ranking of the most important Italian circuit of Cross Country, and Alpago Bike Funtastic, appointment of class HC, represents for the Gorizia the last obstacle that separates him from the party.
The bearer of the CS Carabinieri comes from a good twelfth place conquered in the recent Mountain Bike World Cup event in Val di Sole and aspires to succeed his twin Luca in the prestigious roll of honor of Internazionali d'Italia Series. “Last year the victories at the Internazionali d'Italia Series launched Luca towards the greatest satisfactions of his career. Winning in the Cup is still a distant prospect, but I aspire to get on the podium at least once".
Strengthened by the success achieved in La Thuile and by the great regularity shown during the season, Daniele Braidot leads the general classification with 225 points. The closest opponents are Simone Avondetto e Nadir Colledani, second and third respectively at 195 and 165 lengths. "A 30-point margin isn't a small amount, but we'll have to give everything from the first to the last lap because there's a lot of competition".
“Obviously I want to win the race, but at the same time conquering the classification would be very important for me. It depends on the day: if it's good I'll try, otherwise I'll have to defend myself and manage the advantage. Receive help from Luca? For sure, if I don't win, the ideal would be for Luca to win!"
“I'm fine, the condition is there – added Daniele Braidot. – “This year I found a good efficiency. I've had complicated years with so many changes in my life but now I've managed to find balance and prepare well, also thanks to the CS Carabinieri team who have always been close to me. I came away from the World Cup in Val di Sole with the awareness of being able to do well: the one conquered in Trentino is a worthy placement, because there were many champions in the first 10-15 positions”.
The 32-year-old from Friuli will find a Chies d'Alpago a new path, much more modern and fun. “I learned that the organizers have done some work, distorting the previous concept. I haven't seen the new layout yet because I've been busy all the time in the last month, but I've already spoken to about it Mirko Tobacco. It remains a tough path, but now it is more modern and suited to our current needs. After all, the Internazionali d'Italia Series races are very important also in view of the World Cup, both for the quality of the participation and for the courses”.
The program of the grand finale of the Internazionali d'Italia Series in Chies d'Alpago foresees for the day of Saturday July 8 the race Junior Men at 09.30, followed by Women's Open and Junior competitions at 12.00 and from the race Men's Open at 15.00. On the day of Friday July 7 instead, i will be assigned Italian Short Track titles.
